Colbran Lodge
Offering the highest standards of aged care accommodation, Colbran Lodge is specifically designed to provide care and support for elderly residents living with dementia. In this warm, friendly and homelike environment, residents are provided with a wide range of dementia specific services and resources. We follow a person centred nursing model and develop a care plan, in consultation with relative, carers and a multi-professional team to meet the individual psycho-social needs of each client.
The Lodge features a cosy central living room and comfortable dining areas reminiscent of the family home, which helps to minimize any feelings of disorientation or confusion. Each spacious bedroom is furnished with a bed, wardrobe and bedside table with its own en suite and tranquil garden vista. Residents are encouraged to bring artwork, ornaments, a sitting chair or other favourite piece of furniture to help them feel comfortable in their new home. The accommodation is divided into two wings, Banksia and Wattle Houses, and admission is open to elderly individuals with moderate dementia who require nursing home care.
Both houses have access to sun filled outdoor courtyards, including secure garden areas at Banksia House, so that residents with the tendency to wander can do so in a safe and secure environment.
An Active Lifestyle
At Colbran Lodge, we give our residents every opportunity to experience a full, active and rewarding lifestyle. There is a wide range of day-to-day activities to keep residents busy, active and entertained. Some residents like to help staff with simple domestic tasks while others enjoy our popular music therapy sessions with which often produce wonderful responses from those involved.
There is a dedicated activities officer who co-ordinates a regular schedule of outings to a variety of venues and destinations in and around the local community. Such activities are thoroughly enjoyed by those who take part and families and friends of residents are welcome to participate.
Committed to Care
With superb on-site facilities and 24-hour care and support provided by a highly trained team of professional staff, including experienced Division 1 nurses, residents at Colbran Lodge can expect the high standards of service that have been a hallmark of Royal Freemasons since it was first founded in 1867. The Director of Nursing manages the Lodge with medical supervision provided by doctors specially trained in geriatric health. There is also a dedicated team of allied health professionals; including physiotherapists, occupational and music therapists, providing stimulating programs, which promote independence and well being for all residents.
